I'm amazed.

I'm amazed at how beautiful and blessed this life truly is. I get to work with the most beautiful and cherubic children that make me laugh every day, I have a family that is the envy of most everyone I know, a small but close knit group of friends, opportunities to learn, and faith. Especially faith.

I'm reminded of a primary song I learned when I was little. It had a line in it that said: "Faith is knowing the sun will rise each time I go to sleep." I've kind of had that running through my head lately. You know no matter how bad something seems at the time, the sun will rise again and life will go on. I remember hearing something from another teacher I used to work with, she said: "Life is like a juggling act- we have so many balls that we feel we need to keep in the air because most of them are as delicate as glass. The glass balls represent things like our health and our families, but the work ball is rubber and it can bounce back". So friends in this tough economical time remember the sun will rise again and work will bounce back.

Today's pictures are of a sunset I shot in Montana to remind us that the sun will rise again :)

Life is funny like that

Don't you hate when things you've embraced in your life as "good" turn out to be you just justifying the wrong and stupid things you're doing? I've had a few moments like that lately. I've also had (possibly will have) some unpleasant things occur that may turn out to be the best thing that could have happened. I can see the lights at the ends of various proverbial tunnels.

I know I'm rambling like an idiot and that this post would make a lot more sense if I elaborated on the situations but to protect certain other parties I am not going to.

Anyway, today's picture is from a set I did yesterday, just shooting at a very random and derelict sort of place. There was this solitary picnic table in the middle of a bunch of weeds and overgrowth. Totally not a place I would go to enjoy a picnic. There were also just scores of these pretty wheat colored grasses that waved so beautifully in the blue sky. I was sure I would like those images best when I finished the set, but lo and behold that strange random table turned out to be the strongest image. So enjoy!

YEAH!!!

WOO HOO!!!! I am so so excited! My friend Ashley is going to let me do Maternity pictures! YES! I have had two other friends, two, cousins, and a sister who have all been pregnant recently and none of them wanted to let me do maternity portraiture on them, but beautiful Ashley who has the most gorgeous belly I've ever seen is going to let me do some of her! Yippie! I am going to go do some research now and see what other photographers have done. I will get some on here as soon as they are done.

Todays mood is sunshiney. I loved that I got to go to Ashley's baby shower today, I haven't seen her in years. I loved that I got to see the movie Coraline, artsy animation is totally my thing! I loved that at 6:15 this evening the sky was still a little bit light. And I really loved that I found some long black workout pants for my new belly dance class for ten bucks! So that is why I have posted this sun-drenched little plant I shot in Yellowstone a couple years ago.

Picture a Day! Or at least A week. . .

Okay so I suck at blogging. It has been two weeks! Oh well. I'm pretty sure there are only a handful of you who read this thing anyway :) (thanks). Anyway, I thought that since I am blogging about taking pictures and other aspects of photography I should put more actual images up. So I am going to try and put a new picture that reflects my mood or something that happened that day at least once a week. I'd be masochistic to think I could put a new thing up everyday. Though, maybe once I get a better, faster computer, I will. . . maybe. Anyways, this is what I am thinking today.
-Reflective. I have a couple days off from work and I am visiting my cute family. I have about an hour's drive from my place to my parents so that allows for a lot of time to just chill and think about things. And that mood has kinda stuck all day. It's been good and bad. It's great and all to think about where your life is and where you want it to be but it can also be a little wearing and depressing if it's not exactly how you planned it to be. For example I thought by now I'd have started my family. And truth be told I'm not in a place where I'm ready for that. It's just I thought I'd have that because most of my friends do. My best friend and I practically share a birthday (she's 14 hours older than me) And she has a 9 YEAR OLD! Granted she had her at the age of 16 and that isn't how I'd have wanted my high school experience, but she also has two other beautiful children and a great husband. Of course they have their struggles, everyone does but sometimes I think it'd be nice to have that kind of love and support. My parents and sisters are amazing don't get me wrong, it's just a different kind of love and support. On the other hand sometimes I LOVE being single. I get to do what a like, go where I like and I am responsible for no one (while I'm "off the clock anyway"). But still those street fairs and farmers markets I like to wander in the summer time would be so fun to wander through and share with a much loved boyfriend/partner/Husband type person. So anyway, that's what I've been reflecting lately.
Much Love!! Heather
*This picture was taken a couple years ago in Oregon. I've got thing for lighthouses. :)
